DIY~ Sweet n' Sassy Pearl Necklace

Two of my favourite blogs are http://www.lovemaegan.com/ and http://www.iamstyle-ish.com/ . Both of these ladies make my day a little brighter reading about their opinions on fashion, photography, and sometimes their DIY's. I have marked alot of their DIY's in my favourite's and never really gotten to doing them! So...here's my plan, I'm going to try and do one DIY a week, and I'll share it with you guys {whoever you are}! Sound good...? Well if not than you might want to skip this post. I got this Idea from Tiffany from http://www.iamstyle-ish.com/ {post~ http://www.iamstyle-ish.com/2010/02/lookbook-tweet-my-bag.html I did change it a bit.} So here it is, my very first DIY post....{Can't you just imagine the heavens singing, and the clouds opening up.....no?....well than I guess I should get that checked out ;)}

Sweet n' Sassy Pearl Necklace

What you need~

~A strand of pearls

~A Ruler

~Ribbon

~Scissors

~Needle

~Thick thread.

Step 1

Cut pearls off of thread and put them into a bowl. {You can use different sized pearls and ribbon folds} I bought my pearls at the dollar store, or you can get them at craft stores, though they will probably cost more.
Step 2

Measure out and cut 10 6 inch pieces of ribbon.
Plus two 15 inch pieces depending on how big you want your necklace to hang.

Step 3

Thread your needle onto one end of the thread, and tie a knot at the other. {make sure your knot is large enough to withstand the fiber of the ribbon}

Take one of your 15 inch pieces of ribbon and make an accordian fold with it four times {there should be alot of excess ribbon that will be used to tie the necklace around your neck} so it looks like the photo above.

Step 4

Thread a pearl on.

Now take your 6 inch pieces of ribbon and accordion fold on if them, then proceed to thread it onto your needle, then pushing it down the thread.

Repeate the Pearl and 6 inch ribbon instructions untill you have used all of your 6 inch pieces. It should look like the photo above.

After that, thread on the other piece of 15 inch ribbon with an accordion fold and knot the thread again, make sure it is tight, and big enough so that it will not go through your ribbon. Cut off any excess thread.

.....And Viola!

I had a bunch of pealrs left so I decided to do another one, only this time I weaved the ribbon through the pearls as I put them on!

Wierd things that made me laugh~Bff

So yesturday I was in a health-nutty mood, and as my mom and I were out for a drive, we stopped off at a Mac's, I saw this drink and was intrigued.
It tasted like a watered down froster/Icee/ whatever you want to call it, but for some reason...
I liked it. {Then again I ADORE burnt popcorn!}
This was the kind I got, it was purpleish, red. I mainly got it because I love Acai berry's!

But the whole point of this post is because of this...

Do you see that? below the Olympic Rings?!...can you read what it says?!?!?!
It totaly says "Proud sponsor and "BFF" THATS RIGHT BFF, I bursted out laughing when I saw this!!!!! I just thought it was the funniest thing on earth!! ...Maybe it was just the extra vitamins in my system... haha get it? vitamin water...more vitamins... oh my!

Have you seen this before on other products and laughed?!?

It's the way the dress makes her feel that makes her stand out in the crowd.

So today I went out grad dress shopping with my nana, We went to a bunch of different stores

all over the place! Jacob, Winners, Jacob Connexion, Smart Set, then Le Chateau.

Most of the stores didn't have much of a selection. With the exception of Le Chateau, I had a pre concieved notion about this place. I kind of thought that all of the dresses would be mid thigh length, and pretty revealing.... I was wrong, they had a fair amount of dresses, and tops that were very beautiful! I tried on 6 or 7 dresses, A pink, a blue, a couple white, a silver, and a couple red ones, here are two of my favourites....

I loved the way the fabric is draped {I don't know if thats the right word or not, but it's what came to my head.} but, It's a little too black for me.

I LOVED this dress!!! You can't see it in this photo but the detail in the middle is beautiful! It has like little ruffles, and it was adorable, but my nana didn't really like it, and the thread that was making the ruffles was showing a bit so we voted no on this one.

After three solid hours of trying on dresses, I finaly got one... I love it's and I think it is gorgeous.

But I could not manage to get a photo that showed how beautiful it is.

Therefore, whoever wants to see it, will have to wait untill graduation... ;)

...ok, i'm not that cruel, here's a sneek peek :)

Of corse... sense it's red, It would go amazingly with these Louboutin's haha..because I can afford 500 dollar shoes :P

Why don't we talk about shoes... Aren't they lovely?? The Flats, the heels, the sparkly ones, the.... ok you get my point.. shoes rock! But sometimes only from the outside... then you see whats in the shoe....

.....A BIG GROSS BLISTER!!!!....

....OR TWO!!! {excuse the brown-ish guck on my heels, thats what I call the aftermath of band- aid guck.}

..All of this because I ended up walking to school last minute,
and decided to wear these baby's....
I swear this happend like the day after my last blisters that
I got from THESE shoes healed over!!
....Thats life for ya....

Whoopsies...

So, after a recent talk with my Mom, she informed me of the excessive amount of spelling errors on my blog. I apologize for this, and I'm going to work harder to catch any spelling errors.

Thanks

Oscars

So, last night we made Oscar history! I watched the whole thing from the Red Carpet arrivals on E talk, through all of the nominations for Avatar, {I could have swore they were nominated for every single catatgory!} right to the Best Motion Picture of the year! I am so proud of Mrs. Kathryn Bigelow, for being the first woman to win the Achievement in Directingn Oscar! If you missed the Oscars last night, here are some of the main oscar catagory's.

~Best Motion Picture of the Year - The Hurt Locker
~Performance By An Actor In A Leading Role - Jeff Bridges, Crazy Heart
~Performance By An Actor In A Supporting Role - Christoph Waltz, Inglourious Basterds
~Performance By An Actress In A Leading Role - Sandra Bullock, The Blind Side
{Her speech was amazingly touching, I think she might be my new favourite Actress.}
~Performance By An Actress In A Supporting Role ~ Mo'Nique, Precious:Based on the novel "Push"
~Best Animated Feature Film Of The Year - UP
{I am soooo happy about this!!}
Ok, so lets get to my favourite part! The Red Carpet!! I've Picked my Top 5 Best Dressed, and my Top 5 Worst Dressed, here they are~
~Top 5 Best Dressed~
Number 5~ Meryl Streep, in Chris March, with Fred Leighton jewels and a Swarovski clutch.
I simply love Meryl Streep, she's so elegant, and classic,
I think this dress definately suits her personality!
Number 4~ Cameron Diaz, in Oscar de la Renta, with Cartier jewels.
I think one of the main reasons why this dress is in the top 5 is because of the glitter, and the majestic princessness of it!
Number 3~ Sarah Jessica Parker, in Chanel Haute Couture, with Fres Leighton jewels.

I swear, Sarah Jessica Parker is one that never dissapoints, she's always got the most amazing, outfits, wether it's on the red carpet, or on the streets of NYC. Love the artisticness of this dress.

Number 2~Sandra Bullock, in Marchesa, with Neil Lane jewels.

Sandra Bullock is pulling more of a Mrs. Sophisticated, than a Mrs. Congeniality, it definately works for her!

Number 1~ Penelope Cruz, in Donna Karan, with Chopard jewels.

I don't know what it is about this dress, but I'm kind of in love with it, it just looks so I don't know....comfy?...yet classic?...yet beautiful?....I'm just speechless.

~Top 5 Worst Dressed~

Number 5~Nicole Richie, in Reem Acra.

Is it just me or does she look like a snake in this dress, plus her makeup?!

Number 4~ Charlize Theron, in Christian Doir, with Harry Winston jewels.

...hmmm, I don't know if the cupcake boob is really working in her benifit.

Number 3~ Diane Kruger, in Chanel Haute Couture, with Chanel Fine Jewlery, jewels, and a Chanel clutch.

I love Chanel..but It kinda reminds me of Black crows, then some beige kind of bird, all smooshed together in a dress.

Number 2~ Zoe Saldana, in Givenchy Haute Couture.
...Ok, this just reminds me of an oompa loompa/ telatubbie mixed together.

Number 1~ Vera Farmiga, in Marchesa, with Fred Leighton jewels.
.....Do I even have to comment...because i'm speechless.

These aren't wost dressed, but they are outfit's, I thought I should point out.
Cute dress, I would totaly wear this!!!....to the beach.

Ok, so, Amanda Seyfried, and Jennifer Lopez both wore Armani Prive dresses, made in the same material, I personaly thought it kindof resembled bubblewrap...but anyways. Amanda's dress, was very Cinderelalish, {In a bubble wrap kind of way} while Jennifer's was, more beautiful from the side, where it resembled a blooming rose, very elegant, but from the front view {below} ....not so elegant to the booty/hips.
What were your favourite Oscar moment's, or outfit's?!

Update~Bermuda.

So, this week I got some disapointing news...we won't be going to Bermuda. this is due to not having a place to stay. I was fairly disaponted at this because I was looking forward to it. A day or so went by, thinking about this on and off, and then my nana {whom I was supposed to be going with} called, we talked for an hour or so, and by the end of our talk, we had decided that we would go somewhere this year, or save up $1000+ for a hotel in Bermuda in a year. I would not save for another year, i've been saving money for two yearss straight, and frankly i'm getting sick of it, so then an amazing, almost too good to be true thought poped into my head....New York City.
I have ALWAYS wanted to go. I love the fashion, the spirit, just everything about it {that i've seen on movies, t.v. or the internet} and i've never been there before. I did a bunch of research on it, not thinking that my Nana would even concider this, as she's kind of a country gal. So I bookmarked all of the possible hotels, all of the Iconic travel spots, just because I like to dream.
A couple days passed and my Nana called to talk to me about our travel plans. Five minutes into the conversation I dropped the bomb with a simple... "yea, New York would be cool" and guess what her reply was?! "Yea I looked into it, and that would be nice" I ALMOST HAD A HEART ATTACK!! MY Nana is concidering going to New York City?!? It was almost unbearable!

So a week went by, and I had done a bunch of research, as had she. and finally we come to a conclusion.... Were going to New York City!! at first we were going to take a plane, but then we came across a bus tour that is half the price!
We don't know when were going yet, there are two possible dates, either July 30-August 2, or September 3-6. I really don't want to go with the July/August one because I could have a couple hundred more dollars saved up if we went with the September one, but, if the september one falls on my first day of highschool, than there is no way i'm going with that one, so this all falls into the hands of when the first day of highschool is. Which we will find out tomorrow...suspence much?! I think so!
So, either way, were going so I might as well show you some of my "Must shop's"
Saks's Fifth Avenue

Hollister!

Abercrombie!

Tiffany's <3

{sorry, but I think the <3>

Chanel!!

Bloomingdales!!

Louis Vuitton

...and H&m!

There are plenty more, but I'll keep it at that many! I am mojorly excited!!

If you know of any New York Must-See's pleasee comment!

"Where'd you get that scarf?!?!" "A tub Of Becel Margarine!"

A wierd statement right? Well it's true! My mom and I were grocery shopping, and she saw that Becel Margarine is giving away a free scarf with every tub of margarine....I thought this was a bit wierd at first, but then I read further into it and realized the scarfs are to represent the Heart Truth campaign. The Heart Turth Campaign's priority is to inform women about risk of heart disease, and stroke, also to empower women to protect their heart health. http://www.becelcanada.com/en_ca/content/women_and_heart_disease/becel_and_the_heart_truth.aspx

Here are some pics of my Heart Healt scarf~

Here's a heart touching video about the Campaign~
